Nerea Calvillo + Miguel Mesa. 2nd year undergraduate
Universidad de Alicante, 2012-2013
This course explores a very specific type of infrastructure, what we have conceptualized as infrastructures of care. The objective is to detect specific systems that are operating in Alicante which make possible to have non-normative practices for specific individuals or collectives. By doing personal interviews and research their socio-technical assemblage is mapped, revealing the networks of objects, environments and places connected to these practices. One of the main aims of this course is to explore everyday practices through the inquiry of the domestic, to exploit through architecture design the privileged position of infrastructures to manage happiness, illusion and desire.
These maps of the infrastructural ecosystem are a one month exploration, used as the baseline to develop the rest of the studio.
